Agriculture and Forestry

Agriculture

UAVS have a vital role to play in the future of farming and agriculture. they can carry the potential of completely transforming and revolutionizing the farming industry. soil health scans, crop-spraying, monitoring crop health, applying fertilizers, then collecting the data and analyzing it for prompt action.

Forestry

Using drones in forestry applications undoubtedly implies a number of advantages, such as time and cost savings as well as increased operational efficiency. Although the use of drones in forestry may still be in an early stage, the technology definitely has great potential in the near future. Applications include tree height monitoring, disease and detection, forest classification and inventory, detection of power-lines in dense areas where lines and trees are too close together, historical aerial imagery and change detection, clear cut area delineation, forest health and habitat identification.

UAVS can mechanize every step of farming and forestry, eliminating the costs of human errors and enabling farmers and forestry workers to react quickly to threats (such as drought conditions and pests)

Extended flight times & large payload capacities

The heavy-duty aircrafts deployed at EWATT offer payload capacities and flight times that enable inspections of large patches of forest in a single flight.  For example, the electric EWZ-D6's payload capacity allows for the installation of high-end LiDAR systems, along with RGB and IR cameras.

Forest inventory Measurements

EWATT imploys innovative forest inventory scanning techniques by using a single LiDAR system to obtain the tree height, stocking and the diameter at the breast height (DBH) in addition to a number of other readings.

The  LiDAR point cloud processing solutions analyze the characteristics of the locally grown trees and thus offer unrivalled accuracy. The powerful LiDAR systems used by EWATT offer up to 7 returns and allow for data capturing from altitudes of a few hundred meters. This enables the completion of forest inventory measurements in even remote and mountainous areas.

Forestry Mapping

The light-weight VTOL fixed-wing EWG-E2V is a mapping aircraft achieving flight times of up to 90 minutes capable of conducting mapping missions over hundreds of acres during a single deployment.

Forest Health Control

EWATT VTOL fixed-wing drones can be equipped with multi-spectral and hyper-spectral imagers to conduct routine forest health inspections. The drones can inspect the spectral signature of vegetation and detect presence of pests and the damage they cause. The EWATT systems can detect nutrient and water deficiencies and can greatly assist in forest recovery efforts after fires or diseases.

Digital Elevation Models (DTM)

DTMs provide planners, planting contractors, road construction workers, and harvesters with the detailed terrain information highlighting ridge-lines, watercourses, slopes and other topographical features. Thanks to the advances in LiDAR and mapping technologies, these models can achieve modeling accuracy of up to 7mm.

Fire Fighting

EWATT drones fitted with RGB and IR cameras can identify burn patterns during all times, day or night. Video images are sent in real-time from the drone to the command centers to help coordinate and prioritize firefighting operations and protect the ground troops by identifying evacuation routes.
